Unlock the Power of a Major Gifts Plan
Unlock the Power of a
Major Gifts Plan
Introduction
Major gifts are a key component to your organization’s fundraising efforts. This workshop will help you develop a plan for how to:
- Identify major gifts
- Nurture relationships
- Make the ask
- Steward the gifts (and givers)
Start with Prayer
Prayer is at the beginning, the middle, and then end of major gifts planning. Pause for a moment and reflect on the relationships God has blessed you with: friends, family, church members, neighbors, business associates, etc.

Mary Magdalene: The Disciple Who Provided
In this Bible study, we see what Mary Magdalene received from Jesus, what Mary gave Jesus, but most importantly we see that Mary and Jesus were together.
The plan is the for. The ask is the from. The relationship is the with. All three are important in donor acquisition. We learn the key to the relationship that Mary had with Jesus was that she was present with Jesus. She would then be encouraged and then would encourage others. Lastly, she would be blessed and thereby be a blessing to others. (Be P.E.B.: Be Present, Be Encouraged, Be Blessed!)
“Soon afterward he went on through cities and villages, proclaiming and bringing the good news of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with him. 2) and also some women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, 3) and Joanna, the wife of Chuza, Herod’s household manager, and Susanna, and many others, who provided for them out of their means.”
Luke 8:1-3 ESV
