Who is MI?

Knowing who Mission Increase is, and what we do is the first step in becoming an area director. Spend time reading the following three sections to learn more about who MI is.

Mission, Vision, Values Statements

Vision Statement

A vision statement looks forward and creates a mental image of the ideal state that the organization wishes to achieve. It is inspirational and aspirational and should challenge employees. Questions to consider when drafting vision statements might include:

  • What problem are we seeking to solve?
  • Where are we headed?
  • If we achieved all strategic goals, what would we look like 10 years from now?

Mission Increase’s Current Vision Statement: Our vision is to accelerate the fulfillment of the Great Commission by ensuring communities everywhere have access to kingdom-multiplying resources (training, tools, investment opportunities), enabling purposeful action and producing measurable results

Mission Statement

A mission statement defines the organization’s business, its objectives, and how it will reach these objectives.

Mission Increase’s Mission Statement: “We equip donors, nonprofits, and churches to multiply their collective kingdom impact, so that more lives are transformed for Jesus” (Ephesians 4:11-16)

After reading these, think about how would you convey each in your own words. As you look through the following communication pieces, consider how you see these illustrated.

MI’s Work

Familiarize yourself with the language frequently used when communicating to givers and ministry leaders to describe our work.

Our Purpose

MI exists to equip givers and Christian nonprofits to transform their communities together. MI’s program teaches nonprofits to embrace and deploy a biblical approach to fundraising so that they are more fully achieving their God-given missions and engaging more of God’s people in the work so that more lives are transformed for Christ.

Our Model

In each MI community across the United States, an Area Director delivers the MI program at no cost to Christian nonprofits, thanks to givers in their communities. Whether in workshops, group coaching, or one-to-one consulting with nonprofit leaders, MI helps nonprofits understand that biblical fundraising is an opportunity to minister to givers, inviting them to connect with the work God is doing and be transformed in the process. We do this through:

  • TEACHING — Through quarterly workshops and webinars, MI offers a practical, biblically-based fundraising curriculum covering topics such as acquisition, major gifts, ministry communications, ministry leadership, and more.
  • COACHING — Through group and individual coaching, MI staff members work directly with ministry leaders, addressing particular organizational needs or concerns related to MI’s teaching topics.
  • CONSULTING — Each MI Area Director provides one-to-one consulting to a select group of nonprofits; offering a more comprehensive and in-depth look at ministry and fundraising operations. Consulting is done by invitation from the Area Director and is offered free-of-charge.
  • GRANTING — MI also uses matching grants as a tool in consulting. With matching grants, MI invites nonprofits to continue building their fundraising capacity by giving them a matching grant based on the skills they are learning through consulting.
Outcomes and Impacts

Read through MI’s Intended Impacts to understand the vision for the primary, secondary and tertiary impacts we intend to make through our program. 

Our Impact

Our primary impact is to see transformed ministry fundraising in organizations that are committed to advancing the Kingdom. From this starting point, we seek effects in three layers of impact:

  • Direct Impacts — An increased infusion of biblical principles, fundraising capability, fundraising capacity and stability of financial resources. To date, Mission Increase has helped the thousands of nonprofits we serve increase their income by over $1.4B.
  • Secondary Impacts — Serve more people, reach more people for Christ, fulfill their mission, engage new givers, and increase collaboration throughout the nonprofit sector.
  • Tertiary Impacts — A stronger culture of cooperation throughout the nonprofit sector, stronger culture of giving among Christians, and expanding resources for Kingdom work.
