Learning Again When You’re the Expert

That stirring is humility in motion. Proverbs reminds us, “The way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice” (Proverbs 12:15). It takes spiritual maturity to say, “Maybe God is refining how I think about this.”

Many experienced fundraisers realize they’ve spent years raising money faithfully, yet have missed the deeper invitation: to disciple givers. Conventional fundraising centers on transactions—what donors give. Transformational fundraising centers on participation—what God is doing in them through giving.

Relearning doesn’t mean erasing what you know. It means redeeming it. Your event-planning skills, communication instincts, and strategic thinking can all be reoriented around biblical principles. The same excellence that once helped you meet goals can now help you nurture hearts.

Paul’s challenge fits this perfectly: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2). Let God reshape how you see generosity—not as a technique but as a relationship.

Seasoned leaders who stay teachable become the greatest teachers. Their humility validates the message far more than credentials ever could. Keep learning. Keep growing. The more you know, the more room there is for God to reveal what truly matters.
